Mapanuri’s First!

I didn’t notice that it’s been a year already.  I started this mapanuri blog on but a few months after that I got curious in transferring it to the more popular  I started a few blog posts November of 2009 and just July of last year, I started to transfer all the posts.

A look from one year ago

It’s not the original look, it’s something yellow-ish and amateur-ish back then.. hehe

A brief history.  This came to the online world because of the blog conference hosted by our company.  The first time I blog and I won a netbook out of it – lucky eh?.. Since then, it gave me the motivation to put up my own blog – the thing that I have been wanting to do since college.  Why Mapanuri? My creative thinking is not working at that time so I just based it on how I am as a person.  I am the kind of person who is keen to details (if perfectionist is the word for it, so be it.. :P) but I am not perfect, so is everyone else that’s why I don’t consider myself a perfectionist. 🙂 I just want to utter my opinions on certain things whether it be entertainment, food, political, social, financial or whatever as long as I know that I am a part of it and it concerns me.  But along the way, it evolved and had some sense of direction (??).  I realized my love to travel.  With the motivation put on me by the travel blogs I am reading (see blogroll), I was greatly encouraged to push myself and get out of my comfort zone.   January of this year, I started plotting my own travel calendar (see Travels) 🙂

One year old! and getting older..

Before I was planning to put up a mini-contest, just like other blogs to give thanks ( as if andaming readers… haha) aside from boosting the site’s traffic in my blog’s first year lol.. I might do it some other time.  😛 Surely, I am very much thankful to all my readers and even blog-hoppers who are spending time to type in on their browsers, search mapanuri on google and click my link on other blogs, my fb/twitter walls as well as on my Yahoo Messenger status.  I appreciate it a lot.

Right now, I’m planning to transfer again and utilize/monetize my own domain which is  As some of you might notice, I am not very active in writing blogs recently because I’m also working and doing other personal stuff (pamangkin-sitting on the side hehe).  I’m keeping myself from multi-tasking, it gives me a headache. 🙂 But if I had that itch to write, no one can stop me.  I just want to make use of my own website and blog about my interests there – the usuals.. 🙂 Been also wanting to make it a travel/photoblog because I envy those travel photographers that are really good in taking photos of such beautiful places. 🙂 Soon, I’ll make up my mind and you’ll just be suprised.. lol 😛

Again, I am just thankful that some random people here on earth took time to read and comment on every blog post I make – though some are only a repost from news and current events.  I really really appreciate it! More thankful to those that I don’t personally know but due to consistent exchange of conversation, I was able to establish this kind of “online” relationship with them.  Someday, I would definitely meet all of you in person. But soon would be better.. 🙂 Basta walang magpapalibre.. hehe 😛

So that wraps up the first year and now on to the second. This is my 162nd post.  Compared to others, this is considerably few.  More active blogging on the 2nd year!. 🙂

One year old! and getting older..

Prenup shoot gone wrong?

It came across my facebook wall early this morning and here’s the complete link to read the rest of the article.

This is about a prenuptial shoot that was taken at the Libingan ng mga Bayani which gained a lot of mixed reactions in the online world.  Even AFP disclosed their disappointment over the matter.  Saying that Libingan ng mga Bayani should be treated with respect and honor.  This is the resting place of Filipino soldiers and dignitaries.

Here are some of the pictures taken of the controversial prenup shoot:

Being a photography enthusiast/hobbyist myself, I have my own reaction on this.  I have seen a lot of prenuptial shoots but I prefer not to disclose it in this post.  😛

Djokovic wins Wimbledon 2011

Defending champ Rafael Nadal lost to Novak Djokovic in the recent Wimbledon 2011 Men’s Final.  The Serb took advantage of the game, 6-4, 6-1, 1-6, 6-3 winning most of the sets’ break points.

Djokovic kisses his Wimbledon trophy

This is Novak’s first Wimbledon title.

“It is the best day of my life,” Djokovic said. “This is the tournament I always dreamed of winning. I think I am still sleeping, still dreaming. When you’re playing the best player in the world … I had to be on top of my game. I played probably my best match on grass courts ever.” According to the new World No. 1 seed.

For me, it’s one of the few games that Nadal wasn’t in good shape producing several unforced errors.  Djokovic advanced with the first two sets but Rafa came back to claim the third.  On the fourth set, Novak continued to dominate the grass court winning the last set at 6-3.

Честитамо Ђоковић!! (Congratulations Djokovic!)

Smoking.. Banned!

Starting today, June 27, 2011, smoking will be banned to public places and other specified areas to support the campaign to make Metro Manila 100% smoke-free.

For those who are unfamiliar with the ordinance, posted below is Section 5 of Republic Act 9211:

    *      Centers of youth activity such as playschools, preparatory schools, elementary schools, high schools, colleges and universities, youth hostels, and recreational facilities for persons under eighteen (18) years old;
    *      Elevator and stairwells;
    *      Location in which fire hazards are present, including gas stations and storage areas for flammable liquids, gas, explosives or combustible materials;
    *      Within the buildings and premises of public and private hospitals. Medical, dental, and optical clinics, health centers, nursing homes, dispensaries and laboratories;
    *      Public conveyance and public facilities including airport and ship terminals and train and bus stations, restaurant and conference halls, except for separate smoking areas; and
    *      Food preparation areas.

hmmmm bakit wala sa loob ng mga public vehicles like jeepneys and non-aircon buses? mga drivers pa naman ang malakas mag-yosi..

And B-T-W.. Starbucks supports this campaign.

Smoke-free on your coffee

Some avid Starbucks-goers are against it.  Some even sent fillers that they’ll boycott the store.

I know this will draw a lot of mixed reactions.  For the benefit of the common good (good health that is) I think it should be strictly implemented.  We’re all aware of what smoking could bring to people (re: health concerns), right?.  At least for once we should have discipline and obey a certain rule of our law.

Please be guided accordingly.  I wrote this as a reminder to my friends and others out there who aren’t still aware of this.  Mahuli kayo bigla, hindi nyo pa alam.. 🙂 Iba ang may alam.. (pahiram GMA NEWS TV..)

And yes, I am a non-smoker.. I’ve seen the damage it could bring so I decided to be against it.

P.S. ..against smoking.. not the smokers.. 🙂

Happy Father’s Day!

This time it’s for real.  It’s Father’s Day and oh, I’d like to greet all the fathers out there but the most special greeting goes out to my father, Jack.

Ka Jack or Ka Ito

Photographer ka rin pala 'Tay? 🙂

I won’t be able to give him a big hug tomorrow because he’s on the other side of the world. Yep, he’s in New Jersey, USA together with my Nanay and my Ate Tina’s family.  If my VISA was approved, I’d be able to celebrate Father’s day with them.  This time, we’ll still celebrate it but through the magic brought by technology in which we call “Yahoo Messenger”. 😛

It took miles between us for me to realize how I badly miss his presence. 😦 Though we haven’t really shared much and didn’t have very often father-and-son bonding, I miss him.  But I know he’s having a great time as he enjoys his retirement – away from the stress here.

Thank you ‘Tay for everything….
From Antipolo, with so much love from us.. 🙂

Happy Father’s Day!

To ban or not to ban Facebook?

If there’s one thing that does not need any introduction – it’s Facebook.  Yes, almost everyone with computers has an account with Facebook.  It definitely revolutionized our social lives through social networking – meeting friends online, making new friends and posting tons of pictures, etc. It’s been a part of our daily lives (my colleagues say yeah!) that even in our workplace, we spend time opening and checking those red notifications on the upper portion of our browsers. But this bring attention to some employers if Facebook and other social networking sites jeopardize their employees’ productivity during working hours.

No to Facebook?

I found an article on Yahoo! news that South Cotabato governor bans Facebook and other social networking sites in their government offices.  Apart from increasing efficiency among government employees, South Cotabato Governor Arthur Pingoy, Jr. explained that the capital office’s network server is also affected by the number of employees using social networking sites, watching online videos or playing games.  The cities of Parañaque, Makati, and Quezon City have put policies that provide limited access to such websites during work hours.  This is also the usual case in other companies, say – call centers. 😛 Most of the time, during idle hours some may really take part in doing this – and it’s a fact.  If a company is lenient in allowing these sites during operations, some still abuse it and again compromising their productivity at work.

For me, it can be a breather from the stress and other pressure you’re having from consequences of your job.  Lucky us, we’re not restricted from accessing these sites but of course we do it with carefulness and responsibility and NOT ALL THE TIME.  Who wants to be reprimanded anyway? 🙂 But, if the company policy clearly states that usage of such sites is STRICTLY PROHIBITED – I think there should be no question about it.  Just keep that status in your head and post (or tweet) it once you arrive home. 🙂

At this point, I am quite having no urge to make any blog posts. But it’s not because that I ran out of stories to tell or information to share.  It’s just that (well, aside from ““) I have a lot of ideas running in my head (again!) that I don’t know which one to begin.  And oh, may I also add that I just had to settle some personal matters over the past few days.

Oh well, this won’t take long and knowing me, probably later you have another post to read after this.. 😛 hehe (labo eh??.. 😛)
